Sedna
Acrylic on canvas, 2007-8
This is the making of Sedna. It wasn't called Sedna when it began; at first I wanted to paint an astrologer, and it developed into a bride, afterwards it became yet another harlequin, and right now it is a sea creature. It made me think of Sedna, the Inuit goddess, and I will pick this idea and try to develop. But I will change it all again, from head to toes, leaving only the face intact; the present painting is making me sick! Right now, what I have here are the many identities it assumed. Some were better than others, I admit. I will be posting new pictures while I work. Hopefully, there will be a final painting, and it will have its own post. Heaven knows what it will look like and when it will be done.
